The Florida Insurance Market: An Analysis of Vulnerabilities to Future Hurricane Losses

Karen Clark and Glen Daraskevich collaborated with Jack E. Nicholson, Director of the Florida Catastrophic Storm Risk Management Center of Florida State University, on a paper entitled "The Florida Insurance Market: An Analysis of Vulnerabilities to Future Hurricane Losses" published in the Journal of Insurance Regulation. Using the Characteristic Event (CE) methodology pioneered by KCC, the paper shares the results of a detailed analysis on the impacts of 20-, 50-, and 100-year hurricanes on the Florida residential insurance market and demonstrates the state's vulnerability to hurricane losses.
