The 2018 North Atlantic Hurricane Season was a slightly above average season, and four landfalling storms caused significant impacts to the US. An early pre-season tropical storm formed in late May and made landfall, after which the season became relatively quiet until Hurricane Florence made landfall near Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina, in September. The season ended with the Florida Panhandle experiencing its first Category 4 hurricane in the historical record.
